Chicago 2017: All-new 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT unveiled

As promised a few days ago, the all-new 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT made its North American debut today at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. It will go on sale this summer, with prices to be announced closer to launch.

Similar to the Elantra sedan, shoppers will be able to choose between two models: the efficient, smooth-running Elantra GT (2.0L, 162 hp) or the more powerful and fun-to-drive Elantra GT Sport (1.6L turbo, 201 hp, 195 lb-ft).

“The new Elantra GT brings more to the North American shores for the 2018 model year,” said Scott Margason, director, product planning, Hyundai Motor America. “More space and features inside. More aggression and European flair outside. And more options under the hood. I’m particularly excited to showcase the GT Sport, a true hot hatch.”

There’s roughly 700 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, and when you fold them down the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT’s vast cabin allows you to fit more stuff than in any other popular compact car.

Other highlights include vertical LED daytime running lights, an 8” display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, as well as available LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, and wireless smartphone charging. You can even start the car remotely through Amazon Alexa Blue Link.
